My Idea on a Safe and Peaceful Cyber Space…

Cyber safety is always on the priority of the people of the internet whether it be 2010 or 2021, but the only change that has took place in the last 11 years is the increasing number of hacking and data breaching.

What is Cyber attack?

In computers or computer networks an attack is any attempt to destroy, gain, expose, disable, alter the data through a unauthorized access or to make unauthorized use of an asset. An attacker is a person or a process that try to get access of some personal data, functions or the restricted area of any system without authorization, potentially with malicious content. A cyber attack can be employed by a state, individual group, society, or organisations. A product or any type of content that facilitates cyber attack is sometimes called a cyber weapon(a cyber weapon that is an agent employed for military, paramilitary, or intelligence objectives).

Top 10 ways to be safe form these cyber attacks

  • Keep Personal Information Professional and Limited

Potential employees or customers don’t need to know your personal information or your home address, they do need to know only your expertise and your professional background, and how to get in touch with you.

  • Keep your Privacy Settings On

Marketers do love to know a lot about you, and so do hacker. Both can know a lot about you checking your browser history and media usage. But you can take the charge of your safety by turning on the Privacy setting on the browser no matter what device it is whether our phone or your PC.

  • Practice Safe browsing

You would not choose to walk through the dangerous neighborhood and not to visit dangerous online media usage. But you can get charge of your information. But as you noticed that all the devices whether it be a phone or a PC have privacy settings to protect your browsing

  • Make Sure your Connection is Secure. Use a VPN Connection

When you go in public places and use a public WiFi connection, you have no direct control over the security. Make sure your device is secure, and when in doubt, wait for the right time(Until you’re able to connect to a secure WiFi connection) before providing information such as your bank account number.

To further improve your internet browsing use a VPN (Virtual Private Network). VPN enables you to have a secure WiFi connection between your device and the and an internet server that no one can monitor or access the data that you’re exchanging.

  • Be Careful What you’re Downloading

A top goal of the cyber criminal is to trick you into downloading malware — the programs or apps that have some malware or try to steal some information. Cyber criminals try to add malware to the most popular apps and games that checks in the traffic or weather. Don’t download anything form websites which you don’t trust.

  • Choose Strong Passwords

Passwords are the most weak spot of the whole internet security structure, but there is currently no way around it. People of the internet tend to choose passwords which are easy to remember (such as ‘passwords’ and ‘123456’) which is very easy to crack for cyber thieves. Select strong passwords that are hard for the cyber thieves to guess. A strong password is that which consist of unique and complex letters and must be at-least of 15 characters.

  • Make online Purchases form secure sites

Any time you purchase anything online you may need to provide the site your credit or debit card information — just what the cyber criminals are eager to get their hands on. Only supply this information to the sites which provide very secure encrypted connections. You can identify secure sites from seeing their address if it contains https: (the ‘s’ stands for secure) rather than just http: they may also be marked by padlock icon on the left side of the address.

  • Be Careful what you Post

The world of internet does not have any delete key, as the young candidate in the new hemisphere found out. Any comment or image you post may stay online forever because removing the original (say, form Twitter) does not remove any copies that people have made. There is no other way for you to “take back” a remark you wish you hadn’t made. Don’t put anything that you wouldn’t want your mom or your employee could see.

  • Be Careful Whom you Meet Online

People who you meet online are not always whom they claim to be. Indeed they may also no be real. Fake social media accounts are a popular way for the hacker to pick people’s cyber pocket.

  • Keep your Antivirus Up to Data

Internet security software cannot protect against every threat, but it will detect and remove most malware — though you should make sure it’s to date. Be sure to stay current with your operating system’s updates and updates to applications you use. They provide a vital layer of security.
